Dr. Michaels has been involved in the development, deployment, and faculty support for the use of a wide range of educational technologies for the past 33 years. He is currently the Executive Director of Instructional Development at UC Santa Barbara, a position that he has held for almost 16 years. Instructional Development is a full service faculty support unit that includes faculty consultation and training on all aspects of teaching and learning; the campus TA training program; the campus course evaluation system; general assignment classroom technology design, maintenance, and faculty support; faculty training and support in a wide range of online and in-person educational technologies; and professional photographic , audio, and video production services for courses and curricular materials. Dr. Michaels is a past Chair of the UC Media Directors group, a past Chair of the UC Educational Technology Leadership Committee, and a past Chair of the UC Teaching and Learning Centers. He holds a Bachelors and advanced degrees in Anthropology.

Emily Ravewood manages several instructional support teams for the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Her instructional design team, the Learning and Teaching Consultants, work with faculty on creating course activities or entire courses, run outreach to faculty about pedagogical best practices and new tools, and teach faculty and students to make effective use of LSA’s technology and teaching spaces. Emily was teaching faculty, and a website designer on the side, for 10 years before making the career shift to instructional design and ed-tech.

Irene T. Rojas has been with the University of Texas at El Paso for over 21 years under the IT/Information Resources department. Fifteen of those years have been spent on dealing with project management. She is currently a Blackboard Admin as well as the Blackboard & Instructional Technologist Project Manager. She is responsible for the management and implementation of new projects related to Blackboard and 3rd Party Tools used for teaching and learning. Irene Rojas holds an MBA Degree with a Management Concentration and is a Project Management Professional (PMP), certified through the Project Management Institute (PMI).
